Do It Now
While you still can
Journal: 15 July, 2025, morning.
I originally wrote the below journal entry two years ago (how can it have been two years now, already?). Time passes like a bullet train, just usually more quietly. Reading it this morning, I affirm it again, and with passion! Do that thing now, my dear friends. NOW. Don’t dally. *Do it Now*
The OP:
I’m trying on eyeglass frames, virtually. Is this not a cool tool? I’m going to get red ones, almost certainly, because why not? A statement, of exactly what a little undefined, but with verve! 😁
My friends waded in and it was one vote away from unanimity, and I think that’s more than adequate confirmation that I should just “go for it.” Again, why not?
I love being my age because I long ago stopped worrying about being thought silly. Or undignified. Or wildly eccentric. Or that ever popular “She’s *different*.” You can’t imagine how freeing that is! You just don’t care! That’s “skipping and twirling and madly waving your arms in the air” freeing. 😁 There are consolations, you know, to being here all these many years, and that is definitely one of them. ❤️
All our lives we are squeezed into ill-fitting containers and we scrunch and fold and bend ourselves until we kind of/sort of manage to live in them, because *fear*, whether for our own selves, or for our children (whom we want not to be rejected and hurt), or for others we love and don’t want to risk hurting, and that’s understandable and yet… I don’t think we know how much that costs us. Who are we? Sometimes we forget who we are, and we wear brown coats and practical underwear and sensible shoes and
dothesamethingsdayafterdayafterdayfortherestofourlives…
And then it’s over. The end.
So… back to the red glasses, or whatever they represent to you. Buy them, wear them, delight in them. #dothething
Why not?
